The dose that most of the human evidence uses
When boron researchers wanted to see what a realistic supplemental intake does to mineral metabolism, they used 3 mg/day — the dose in the metabolic-ward studies that found reduced urinary calcium and magnesium loss (Nielsen 1987; Hunt 1997). It's also the dose most retail products settle on, which is a reasonable default if you want to match the dose with the most human data behind it.
