Best Boron Supplement 2026: Ranked by Form, Dose & Cost per mg

By Erin Rose · Updated · Methodology

Informational summary — not medical advice. This page ranks product value at a given dose; on whether boron works, see the testosterone evidence and the bone evidence. Pregnant or breastfeeding? Stay well under the tolerable upper limit and talk to your clinician before supplementing (see the safety note). This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA.

All 5 boron products tracked here disclose elemental boron directly — no beetroot-style label trap — so cost per elemental mg is a real, honest comparison. The cheapest at the 3 mg most-studied human dose is NOW Foods Boron 3 mg (Bororganic Glycine) ($0.0173/elemental mg). A 10 mg product is cheapest per raw mg, but it's half the 20 mg adult upper limit in one serving — don't stack it. Calcium fructoborate (the CFB-trial compound) has no live price and often hides its elemental-boron content, so it's flagged, not ranked.

The one-line takeaway Because every product here discloses elemental boron, cost per elemental mg is a real number — unlike beetroot's nitrate gap. But cheapest-per-mg and best-buy aren't the same thing: the single cheapest product is a 10 mg serving, which is half the adult upper limit, so it's a ceiling, not a bargain to stack. At the actual 3 mg studied dose, NOW Foods Boron 3 mg (Bororganic Glycine) is the honest best value.

Every product compared: elemental boron & cost

Sorted cheapest cost per elemental mg first. Read the Elemental B and Dose tier columns before the price — a bigger container or a lower sticker price doesn't tell you whether you're buying the studied dose. Full data is a public CC BY JSON file.

Prices are live Amazon buy-box figures, July 2026; they move. Cost per serving = price ÷ servings per container. Cost per elemental mg = price ÷ (servings × elemental boron mg per serving). Dose tier compares each serving to the ~3 mg most-studied human dose and the 20 mg US adult upper intake level.

Why calcium fructoborate isn't in the table

Calcium fructoborate (marketed as FruiteX-B) is the exact compound behind the CFB joint/inflammation pilot trials (Scorei 2011, Pietrzkowski 2014, Rogoveanu 2015). It's left out of the ranked table for two honest reasons, not because it's a bad ingredient:

  • No live buy-box price. Without a current, verifiable price we can't compute a cost figure we'd stand behind — we'd rather flag it than publish a stale or estimated number.
  • The label-disclosure gap. CFB products typically state the compound's weight (e.g. "110 mg calcium fructoborate, twice daily" — the actual trial dose in Pietrzkowski 2014) without stating the elemental boron that compound contains. That means you can't line CFB up against a "3 mg elemental boron" label on an apples-to-apples basis, and it's a second reason to keep it out of a cost-per-elemental-mg ranking.

If joint-inflammation markers specifically (not testosterone, not bone) are your reason for buying boron, calcium fructoborate is the compound the trials actually used — but go in knowing the trials are short, small, and authored by researchers affiliated with the ingredient's developer (a disclosed conflict of interest), and that you won't be able to verify the elemental-boron dose from the label the way you can with the five products above.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best boron supplement?

Cheapest cost per elemental mg AT the 3 mg studied dose — here that's NOW Foods Boron 3 mg (Bororganic Glycine) (~$0.0173/mg). A 10 mg product is cheaper per raw mg but is half the adult upper limit — not automatically better.

Why isn't calcium fructoborate ranked?

No stable live price, and CFB products disclose compound weight (e.g. "110 mg CFB"), not elemental boron — so its dose can't be compared apples-to-apples with the plain-boron products here. Referenced editorially, not ranked.

Is a higher mg number better?

Not automatically. Most research used 3 mg/day; no evidence more than ~10 mg adds benefit. A 10 mg serving is half the 20 mg adult upper limit — a ceiling, not a bargain to stack.
