The best clear wheys on Amazon, ranked
Only clear wheys on a testing list are ranked. Among them, we rank by the price of 25 g of protein, then by what else is in the scoop. Three tie at $2.50; Ascent comes first because Informed Sport lists the exact flavor we price, batch by batch. Clear whey comes in fruit flavors, so we priced one popular flavor in stock for each brand. We did not taste them.

- Myprotein ($1.20) is our pick. It is the cheapest clear whey on a testing list, and the cheapest of the 15 we priced. Its Clear Whey line is on two lists: Informed Choice and Informed Protein.
- Ascent ($2.50) is the pick if you are drug-tested. Informed Sport tests every batch and lists the Pineapple Coconut batches. It uses stevia and a little cane sugar, not sucralose.
- Wild Society is the only one of the 15 on both Informed Choice and Informed Sport. It adds electrolytes, so a scoop has 320 mg of sodium.
- MusclePharm Clear-ISO is on Informed Sport and Informed Protein. It adds L-glutamine, an amino acid; the tub says 5 g.
- Rule 1 is on Informed Choice and Informed Protein, but costs the most per gram of the five.
Proof for our pick
Why Myprotein is our pick
It is on two lists that check different things. Informed Choice buys samples from stores at least monthly and tests them for substances banned in sport. Informed Protein says its certified products are regularly tested for protein content, free amino acids and known adulterants, and meet the protein claim on the label. Both lists name Myprotein’s US Clear Whey line, not a single flavor or tub.
It costs the least per gram of protein. At $1.20 per 25 g in the 1.9 lb tub, it costs about half the middle price of the 15 we priced ($2.50). None of the 15 we priced costs less.
The catch is the sweeteners. It uses sucralose and acesulfame potassium. If you avoid those, buy Ascent. One more thing: the name says “isolate,” but the label lists hydrolyzed whey protein, which is whey that has been partly broken down. The label does not say whether it is made from isolate.

Also checked: not on a testing list
These 10 clear wheys are on no testing list we searched, so we do not link them. Some say “third-party tested” on the package; we count only what the lists show.
| Clear whey | Testing list | Protein | Per 25 g |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oath Kiwi Strawberry, 21 servings | No list found | 20 g | $1.61 |
| SEEQ Watermelon Wave, 22 servings | No list found | 22 g | $1.90 |
| Dymatize ISO100 Clear Pineapple Passion Punch, 25 servings | No list found | 20 g | $2.12 |

| EVL Pink Lemonade, about 19 servings | No list found | 20 g | $2.83 |
A brand being on a list does not mean its clear whey is. Dymatize and Isopure have other products on Informed Choice, but not their clear lines. GHOST’s NSF listings are its energy drinks and hydration sticks. The only clear protein we found on NSF Certified for Sport is 1st Phorm Phormula-1 Clear, and Amazon does not sell it.
Clear whey vs regular whey
It is the same milk protein, made to drink like juice. Clear whey mixes thin and see-through in water. Regular whey mixes creamy, like a shake. For muscle, the protein you eat in a day matters more than the type. How much you need: protein dosage guide.
Clear wheys we read have 20 to 25 g of protein and 80 to 100 calories a scoop, with little or no fat. Most cost more per gram of protein than a regular whey tub: Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard’s 5 lb tub is $1.45 per 25 g on Amazon (see the math). Myprotein is the exception.
Most clear wheys do not claim to be lactose free; SEEQ’s label prints 0 g lactose. Most list whey protein isolate first, which is typically 0.5 to 1% lactose, according to U.S. Dairy Export Council spec sheets. Whey is a milk protein, so none is safe for a milk allergy.

Questions
What is the best clear whey protein?
Myprotein Clear Whey Isolate. It is the cheapest of the 15 clear wheys we priced on Amazon, at $1.20 per 25 g of protein in the 1.9 lb tub, and it is on two testing lists: Informed Choice, which screens for substances banned in sport, and Informed Protein, which tests protein content against the label. Both name the US Clear Whey line, not a flavor. A 25 g scoop has 20 g of protein and 80 calories. It is sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame potassium.
Which clear whey is best for drug-tested athletes?
Ascent Clear Protein Isolate 100% Whey. Informed Sport, which tests every batch before it is sold, lists it and shows its tested batches by flavor; the newest Pineapple Coconut batch on the list was tested December 2, 2025. Check that your flavor is on the list. It costs $2.50 per 25 g of protein and has no sucralose. Wild Society and MusclePharm are also on Informed Sport. No clear whey sold on Amazon is on NSF Certified for Sport.
Is clear whey better than regular whey?
It is not better for muscle. It is the same milk protein, made to mix thin and clear like juice instead of creamy like a shake. Clear wheys we read have 20 to 25 g of protein and 80 to 100 calories a scoop, with little or no fat. Most cost more per gram of protein than a regular whey tub. Pick clear whey if you like the taste and texture more.
Is clear whey protein lactose free?
Most do not say. SEEQ’s label prints 0 g lactose; the others we read make no lactose-free claim. Most list whey protein isolate first, which is typically 0.5 to 1% lactose, according to U.S. Dairy Export Council spec sheets. Whey is a milk protein, so none is safe for a milk allergy.
Is clear whey good for weight loss?
No protein powder causes weight loss. If you are counting calories, compare calories per scoop for the protein you get. Myprotein has 80 calories for 20 g of protein. Ascent has 100 calories for 20 g, including 1 g of added cane sugar.
Do any clear wheys add amino acids to the protein?
We could read 13 of the 15 ingredient lists in full. NutraBio’s Amazon images show no ingredient list, and one EVL ingredient was too small to read. Of the 13, only MusclePharm Clear-ISO adds an amino acid: L-glutamine. MusclePharm Clear-ISO is on Informed Protein, which tests protein content and free amino acids. The tub says 5 g of L-glutamine; the label does not say whether that counts in the 20 g of protein. None of the other 12 ingredient lists shows an added amino acid such as glycine, taurine, glutamine or BCAAs. Some packages tout BCAAs; whey protein contains them naturally.
