Best Creapure Creatine (2026): Which Brands Really Use It
By Erin Rose Updated October 5, 2026 Methodology
Buy BPN Creatine Monohydrate. It has the Creapure seal, it is on AlzChem's own list, and it is NSF Certified for Sport. It costs $0.45 per 5 g. Ascent has the same checks with a different testing list for $0.40.

We checked 6 Creapure creatines sold on Amazon. Only 2 pass all three checks: the seal, AlzChem's list and a testing list. See all 6.
Every Creapure creatine on Amazon, checked
We looked at each tub's label, its Amazon listing, AlzChem's own list of 208 licensed products (18 sold in the US) and five testing lists. Brands need a licence from AlzChem to print the Creapure seal.
| Creatine | On AlzChem list? | Testing list | Per 5 g |
|---|---|---|---|
| BPN | Yes Seal on label | NSF Certified for Sport | $0.45 |
| Ascent Clean Creatine | Yes Seal on label | Informed Sport | $0.40 |
| Sports Research | No Seal on label | NSF Certified for Sport | $0.41 |
| CLEAN Creatine | Yes Seal on label | None found | $0.41 |
| MaxOut360 | No Seal on label | NSF/ANSI 173 | $0.38 |
| Nutricost Creapure | No Product name | None found | $0.38 |
- BPN and Ascent pass every check. BPN's testing list is NSF Certified for Sport. Ascent's is Informed Sport. Both screen for substances banned in sport.
- Sports Research ($0.41) prints the seal and is NSF Certified for Sport. It is not on AlzChem's public list.
- CLEAN ($0.41) is on AlzChem's list. Its Amazon listing says "certified by NSF," but we did not find it on either NSF list.
- MaxOut360 ($0.38) prints the seal and is on NSF/ANSI 173. It is not on AlzChem's list.
- Nutricost Creapure ($0.38) is the cheapest. The brand names Creapure, but Nutricost is not on AlzChem's list and we found it on no testing list.
Proof for our pick
Where we looked, product by product
- BPN Creatine Monohydrate. Creapure: Creapure seal and "Creatine Monohydrate (as Creapure)" on the Supplement Facts, in the Amazon title, and on AlzChem's partner list (United States). Testing: NSF Certified for Sport lists BPN "Creatine Monohydrate", unflavored, 150 g, 300 g and 500 g (the 100-serving tub is 500 g); the label prints the NSF Certified for Sport mark.
- Ascent Clean Creatine. Creapure: Creapure seal on the label, in the Amazon title, and on AlzChem's partner list (United States). Testing: Informed Sport lists Ascent "Clean Creatine" (certified November 15, 2023; latest batch tested June 24, 2026); the tub prints the Informed Sport logo.
- Sports Research Creatine Monohydrate. Creapure: Creapure seal on the label and in the Amazon title; NSF's listing names it "Creapure Creatine Monohydrate"; Sports Research is not on AlzChem's public partner list. Testing: NSF Certified for Sport lists Sports Research "Creapure Creatine Monohydrate Unflavored", 450 g (the Amazon tub); also NSF/ANSI 173.
- CLEAN Creatine. Creapure: Creapure seal on the label, in the Amazon title, and on AlzChem's partner list (United States, "Clean Creatine"). Testing: The Amazon listing says "certified by NSF", but we did not find CLEAN on the NSF Certified for Sport or NSF/ANSI 173 lists.
- MaxOut360 Creapure Creatine Monohydrate. Creapure: Creapure seal on the label and in the Amazon title; NSF/ANSI 173 lists it as "MaxOut360 Creapure Creatine Monohydrate"; MaxOut360 is not on AlzChem's public partner list. Testing: NSF/ANSI 173 lists "MaxOut360 Creapure Creatine Monohydrate - Unflavored", 1 scoop (5 g); not on the NSF Certified for Sport list.
- Nutricost Creapure Creatine Monohydrate. Creapure: Brand says so: Amazon title and nutricost.com name it Creapure; Nutricost is not on AlzChem's public partner list. Testing: Not found in NSF, Informed Choice, Informed Sport or USP.
Which creatine is Creapure and NSF certified?
BPN ($0.45 per 5 g) and Sports Research ($0.41). Both print the Creapure seal and are on the NSF Certified for Sport list for the tub size sold on Amazon. That program screens for substances banned in sport. Only BPN is also on AlzChem's list.
MaxOut360 is on NSF/ANSI 173. That standard checks that the label is accurate and the powder is free of set contaminants. It is not the sport program. The Feed Lab has a Creapure creatine on NSF Certified for Sport, but its Amazon listing does not name Creapure, so we could not confirm which version Amazon sells. Ascent is on Informed Sport, not NSF.
What the labels say
Both Supplement Facts panels list 5 g of Creapure creatine monohydrate and no other ingredients.
Brands that stopped using Creapure: Optimum Nutrition, Thorne, Momentous
Many older reviews still call these Creapure. Their current labels do not. Brands file each new label with the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database, so you can see when the wording changed.
- Optimum Nutrition: labels up to February 2023 said "made with Creapure." The 60-serving label filed in December 2024 says "100% pure creatine monohydrate" instead.
- Thorne: labels up to October 2021 said "This product uses AlzChem's Creapure." No label filed since June 2022 does.
- Momentous: its product page says it "no longer sources creatine from Creapure."
Optimum Nutrition creatine label, then and now
That does not make them worse creatines. Thorne is NSF Certified for Sport ($0.49 per 5 g) and ON is on the Informed Choice list ($0.30). They are just not Creapure. Here is every other creatine we track and whether it names Creapure.

Creapure vs regular creatine monohydrate: does it matter?
For results, no. Creapure is creatine monohydrate, the same molecule. The International Society of Sports Nutrition found monohydrate safe and effective at 3 to 5 g a day in healthy people (Kreider 2017). We found no study showing Creapure works better.
For knowing who made the powder, yes. AlzChem makes Creapure in its own plant in Trostberg, Germany. It says the powder is 99.9% pure, has under 20 mg/kg of DCD (the EU limit is 50) and no detectable DHT, and is checked on the Cologne List. These are the maker's claims. We did not test any powder.
If you are drug-tested, the testing list matters more than Creapure. Creapure tells you who made the raw powder. A testing list checks the tub you buy. That is why our pick has both.
It costs a little more. BPN is $0.45 per 5 g. BulkSupplements, NSF Certified for Sport with no Creapure claim, is $0.21. At one scoop a day that is about $7 a month more.
How to check your own tub
- Find the seal. Real Creapure products print the Creapure logo. AlzChem says a 6-digit code sits at its bottom left.
- Enter the code at creapure.com. It tells you if the product is licensed.
- Trust the label, not the review. Old reviews and store pages lag behind the tub. "German creatine" or "99.9% pure" without the seal is not a Creapure claim.
- Check a testing list if you are drug-tested. See our third-party tested creatine page.

Questions
What is the best Creapure creatine?
Bare Performance Nutrition (BPN) Creatine Monohydrate. It is the only one we found that has all three checks plus the strictest testing list: the Creapure seal on the label, a spot on AlzChem's list of licensed products, and NSF Certified for Sport. It costs $0.45 per 5 g. Ascent Clean Creatine also has all three checks, with Informed Sport instead of NSF, for $0.40 per 5 g.
Which creatine brands use Creapure?
On Amazon today: BPN, Ascent, Sports Research, CLEAN, MaxOut360 and Nutricost all sell a creatine with Creapure on the label or in the name. Only BPN, Ascent and CLEAN are on AlzChem's public list of licensed products. Other US brands on that list include Healthy Origins, MyoXcience, Xendurance and Muscle Feast.
Which creatine is Creapure and NSF certified?
Two creatines we found on Amazon are Creapure and NSF Certified for Sport: BPN Creatine Monohydrate ($0.45 per 5 g) and Sports Research Creatine with Creapure ($0.41 per 5 g). MaxOut360 Creapure is on NSF/ANSI 173, which checks the label and contaminants but is not the sport program. Ascent is on Informed Sport, not NSF.
Is Creapure better than regular creatine monohydrate?
Not for results. Creapure is creatine monohydrate, the same molecule, made by AlzChem in Germany with a stated purity of 99.9%. We found no study showing it builds more strength or muscle than other monohydrate at the same dose. What it adds is a known maker and a purity spec. It usually costs a little more.
Is Thorne creatine Creapure?
Not on the current label. Thorne labels filed with the NIH up to October 2021 said "This product uses AlzChem's Creapure." Every Thorne creatine label filed since June 2022 leaves that line out, and thorne.com does not mention it. Thorne Creatine is still NSF Certified for Sport. If you want Creapure with NSF, BPN or Sports Research fit.
Is Optimum Nutrition creatine Creapure?
Not anymore. ON's creatine labels filed with the NIH up to February 2023 said "Made with Creapure." The 60-serving label filed in December 2024 says "100% pure creatine monohydrate" and does not name Creapure. ON is not on AlzChem's list. It is on the Informed Choice testing list and costs $0.30 per 5 g.
How do I know if my creatine is real Creapure?
Look for the Creapure seal on the tub. AlzChem says licensed products print a 6-digit code at the bottom left of the seal, which you can enter at creapure.com. A label that says "German creatine" or "99.9% pure" without the seal is not the same claim.
