100 mg of LJ100 a capsule; a trial day is 2 capsules (200 mg), the amount most trials used. Its label names LJ100. HP Ingredients, which sells LJ100, ran its LJ100 trials with Biotropics, the maker of Physta, the extract most trials used. We found no document that says the two are identical.

Its lot report (AILUH) comes from Canyonside Labs, which makes the capsules. It calculates the LJ100 amount (100.8 mg a capsule) and does not test eurycomanone. Metals are low: lead 0.184 ppm against a 1.3 ppm limit. The brand’s page says its tests are by ISO/IEC 17025 accredited labs; this certificate shows no accreditation. Open the report

The lot report Double Wood posts (2608907, made June 2026) was written by its contract maker, Brand Nutraceuticals. It lists lead at 2.21 mcg per serving against a limit of less than 0.5 mcg, about 4.4 times the limit. Double Wood’s product page shows this result in a table headed “Meets Listed Specifications.” The prior lot’s lead was 0.436 mcg, 87% of the limit. It does not test eurycomanone. Open the report

Why testing matters for tongkat ali

Bad lots exist. Two surveys of Malaysian tongkat ali products from the early 2000s found too much mercury in 36 of 100 and 26 of 100 products (Ang 2004, 2006). Those are old, from one country, and mostly unregistered products. Newer US numbers are not published. In a lab check of 8 store-bought products, only 5 held detectable tongkat ali compounds (Mutschlechner 2018).

Hidden drugs. FDA recall records list tongkat-labelled products that held hidden prescription drugs, and Health Canada pulled a licensed product for the same reason in 2018. We found no FDA notice that names any of the 5 products here. Buy from brands that post lab reports, and that is still not a guarantee.

Testing tells you what is in the bottle, not whether it works. Across trials, men with normal testosterone saw no clear change. What the trials found, and their limits.

Find the lot number. It is usually stamped on the bottom of the bottle or near the seal.
NSF: search the product at info.nsf.org or nsfsport.com. The listing names the exact product.
Informed Sport or Informed Choice: search the brand at sport.wetestyoutrust.com. Each product page lists the batches tested. Look for your lot.
USP Verified: the list is at quality-supplements.org.
The brand’s own report: find the lab report on the product page and match the lot number. A report with no lot number does not tell you about your bottle. “Made in an NSF-certified facility” means the factory passed an audit, not that NSF lists the product.

Which tongkat ali supplements are third-party tested?

Of the 4 tongkat ali products we score, 1 is on a public testing list: Momentous Tongkat Ali, on Informed Sport. Informed Sport also lists tongkat ali from Puresport, Ten Percent Club, Natural Foundation Supplements and Biogen, and Informed Choice lists one from VH Nutrition. We could not confirm a US seller for any of those. None is on NSF or USP. Nootropics Depot and Double Wood post their own lot reports. Those are useful, but they are not certifications.

What is the cheapest certified tongkat ali?

Momentous Tongkat Ali is the only certified one we score. It costs $0.67 a trial day at list price (2 capsules, 400 mg of root powder). The lowest-cost tongkat ali we score is Nootropics Depot Tongkat Ali 2% at $0.29 a trial day, and it is not on a public list.

What is the difference between NSF Certified for Sport, NSF/ANSI 173, USP Verified and Informed Sport?

They are independent programs, and they check different things. NSF/ANSI 173 checks that the label matches what is in the bottle and that contaminants are within limits. NSF Certified for Sport adds a screen for 280+ banned substances, by lot. USP Verified checks ingredient identity and amount, purity and manufacturing quality. Informed Sport tests for banned substances at an anti-doping laboratory, on every batch before release. Informed Choice uses the same laboratory on samples bought from stores at least monthly. Only Informed Sport lists a tongkat ali we score.

Does "third-party tested" on a label mean anything?

On its own, no. The phrase has no legal definition, and a brand can print it after one test. Ask two things. Is the exact product on a certifier’s list that you can look up? Or does the brand post a lab report with a lot number you can match to your bottle? Even then, check who ran the test. Two of the lot reports we read came from the company that makes the capsules, not an independent lab.

Is Double Wood tongkat ali third-party tested?

No. Neither Double Wood tongkat ali product is on NSF, USP, Informed Sport or Informed Choice. Double Wood sells two. Double Wood 200:1: the lot report Double Wood posts, for lot 2608907, was written by its contract maker, Brand Nutraceuticals, not an independent lab. It lists lead at 2.21 mcg per serving against a limit of less than 0.5 mcg. Is Nootropics Depot tongkat ali third-party tested?

It is not on any public list. Nootropics Depot posts a lot report it issues itself for each lot, and we found no independent lab named on the reports we read. They do measure eurycomanone, the marker compound labs use. The newest 2% capsule report (lot TA2CS1083126, August 2026) shows 4.64 mg a capsule against a 4 mg label, and lead of 1.19 ppm against a 1.5 ppm limit. The newest 10% capsule report (lot TAECCS1061126A, June 2026) shows 10.28 mg against a 10 mg label, and lead of 1.128 ppm against a 2.0 ppm limit. The 2% lot’s figures match an earlier lot’s exactly.

Is Momentous tongkat ali Informed Sport certified?

Yes. Informed Sport lists “Tongkat Ali” by Momentous, capsule form. Informed Sport tests every batch for banned substances before release. We found nothing saying it checks how much tongkat ali is in a capsule. Momentous also posts a report for each lot. The newest we opened (lot 0151F6) lists 400 mg of root against a 400 mg label, with metals reported but no pass or fail limit. The Informed Sport list was checked September 22, 2026.

Which tongkat ali is screened for substances banned in sport?

Of the 4 we score, only Momentous Tongkat Ali, through Informed Sport. Informed Sport lowers the risk of banned substances in a batch; it does not remove it. Search your batch number at sport.wetestyoutrust.com before you compete. No tongkat ali product was on NSF’s Certified for Sport list when we searched on October 13, 2026. The World Anti-Doping Agency’s 2026 list does not name tongkat ali. That is not the same as safe for athletes: the risk with supplements is contamination.

Find the lot number on the bottle. For NSF, search the product at info.nsf.org or nsfsport.com. For Informed Sport or Informed Choice, search the brand at sport.wetestyoutrust.com and look for your lot. For USP, check quality-supplements.org. For a brand that posts lot reports, find the report on its site and match the lot number. If none of these works, you are trusting the label.
