The other 19 we score are on none of the five lists, including all 5 gummies.

What each testing list checks

Two kinds. A contents program checks that the product holds what the label says. A banned-substance program screens for drugs banned in sport, which matters only if you are drug-tested.

Each program, in its own words.
ListWhat it checksHow it samples
NSF/ANSI 173contents That the product holds the ingredients on the label and nothing else, and has no harmful levels of contaminants.Annual audits, and NSF retests each product from time to time. Not a banned-substance program.
USP Verifiedcontents That the product holds the ingredients on the label in the stated amounts, has no harmful levels of listed contaminants, breaks down in a set time, and is made under FDA good manufacturing practice.Audits, lab tests before listing, and tests of listed products bought off the shelf.
NSF Certified for Sportbanned substances The label matches the contents, plus screening for substances banned in sport.Factory audits; listings can be searched by lot.
Informed Choicebanned substances Banned substances.Samples bought from stores at least monthly and blind tested.
Informed Sportbanned substances Banned substances.Every batch, before it is released to market.

What the brand says, and what we could confirm

Each brand’s testing claim, from its label or store page, against the five lists.
What the brand saysHow many of the 27 we score
On a public list8 products, every one in the table above
Says “third-party tested”7 products
No testing claim12 products

A claim with no listing is the brand’s word: no outside group has checked it.

How to check your bottle

  1. Find the mark. Look for an NSF, USP or Informed mark. “Third-party tested” with no mark is a claim.
  2. Open the program’s own list. NSF/ANSI 173, USP Verified, NSF Certified for Sport, Informed Choice, Informed Sport. Or search all five on our testing-list index.
  3. Search the product, not just the brand. A brand with one listed product can sell others that are not.
  4. Check the lot. NSF Certified for Sport can certify named lots only. Match the lot number on your bottle.

Questions

Which ashwagandha supplements are third-party tested?

Of the 27 we score, 8 are on a public testing list. NSF Certified for Sport: Momentous, BulkSupplements (2 products) and Klean Athlete. Informed Choice: Transparent Labs. NSF/ANSI 173 only: Core Med Science, Youtheory and Thorne.

Is KSM-66 third-party tested?

Only some KSM-66 products are. KSM-66 is an extract that many brands buy and put in their own capsules, and testing lists check each finished product, not the extract. Of the 9 KSM-66 capsules we score, 3 are on a list: Transparent Labs (Informed Choice), Core Med Science (NSF/ANSI 173) and Youtheory (NSF/ANSI 173).

My ashwagandha says “third-party tested” but is not on a list. Is it tested?

Maybe, but you cannot check it. 7 of the 27 products we score say “third-party tested” and are on none of the five public lists. Some brands post their own lab reports. Those can be useful, but no outside group checks them.

Is Core Med Science ashwagandha NSF Certified for Sport?

Its label shows an NSF Certified for Sport mark. We found it on NSF/ANSI 173, which checks that the contents match the label, but not on NSF’s Certified for Sport list when we checked on October 7, 2026. If you are drug-tested, search the product and your lot number at nsfsport.com before relying on it.

Are ashwagandha gummies third-party tested?

None of the 5 gummies we score is on a public testing list. If you want a tested product, choose a capsule or powder from the table above; our dosage guide shows how many gummies make a trial day.

Does “third-party tested” on the label mean anything?

On its own, no. The phrase has no set meaning. A listing on a public program is something you can check yourself; a label claim is the brand’s word.
