"methodology": "3 of 6 products tracked here (NOW Foods, Schiff MegaRed, BulkSupplements.com) do NOT disclose an EPA+DHA mg breakdown anywhere reachable, including the manufacturer's own product page in BulkSupplements' case — that opacity is treated as a ranking penalty, not filled in with a guessed number. For the 3 DISCLOSED products, costPer250EpaDha = (price / (servings x EPA+DHA mg per serving)) x 250, using Kori's own 250mg disclosed serving as the reference dose. Krill oil density across the disclosed products runs 108-240mg EPA+DHA per gram of oil, well under the 300-500mg+/g common in concentrated fish oil — buyers are often paying a premium per mg of actual omega-3, not getting more for their money. Ulven 2011 (PMID 21042875, RCT n=113) found krill oil at 543mg EPA+DHA/day produced comparable plasma/lipid effects to fish oil at 864mg EPA+DHA/day (krill needed 37% less total omega-3 to match) — but retail krill softgels dose far below 543mg, so that efficiency edge rarely closes the density gap at the shelf. Krill's phospholipid-bound omega-3 has a real-but-inconsistent absorption edge over fish oil: significant at matched doses in Ramprasath 2013 (PMID 24304605, n=24), a same-direction trend that missed significance in Schuchardt 2011 (PMID 21854650, n=12), and NO advantage at matched LOW doses in Vosskotter 2023 (PMID 36960737, n=62) — cite at least two together, never Ramprasath alone. Krill is a crustacean; products carry a real shellfish-allergy cross-reactivity risk. This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA; these products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.",
