  "methodology": "Allicin is not present in the intact clove — it forms from alliin via the enzyme alliinase when garlic is crushed, and alliinase is destroyed by stomach acid. Lawson 2001 (PMID 11368641) found 83% of enteric-coated brands released <15% of their labeled allicin. So a \"1000 mg\" or \"2400 mg equivalent\" garlic number does NOT indicate delivered allicin. \"verdict\" = the delivery route: aged-extract (aged garlic extract; stable S-allylcysteine; the form with the blood-pressure trial data) / enteric-allicin / stabilized-allicin (allicin engineered to survive the stomach) / plain-powder (non-enteric; allicin delivery questionable) / garlic-oil (negligible allicin). deliversActive = true only for the aged-extract and allicin-delivering routes. EVIDENCE CONTEXT (structure/function only): meta-analyses find garlic modestly lowers blood pressure in hypertensive people (roughly -5 to -9 mmHg systolic; Ried 2016 PMID 26764326, Ried 2020 PMID 32010325, independent replication Rohner 2015 PMID 25239480), with the most consistent data on aged garlic extract; lipid effects are small and conditional (Ried 2013 PMID 23590705); cold/immune evidence is insufficient (Lissiman 2014 PMID 25386977).
